How to start a bullet journal

How to start a bullet journal for cheap! http://goloveyrself.com/index.php/2017/01/04/how-to-start-a-bullet-journal/

If you’re an avid Pinterest user like me then I’m sure you’ve come across a bullet journal somewhere, I know I sure have. Bullet journals are a lot of fun and a great calming activity to do too! Now you’re probably wondering ‘Maia, what the heck is a bullet journal?!’. Well, a bullet journal, also known as a bujo, is like a giant todo list and planner combined. Yes, yes, I can hear you groaning at the sound of ‘to do list’ but really it is a really good way to stay organised. So let me teach you how to get started ~

Buying a journal

To use a bullet journal you don’t need a fancy, expensive moleskin. In fact, my first bullet journal was an old notebook from a dollar store. But if you like the fancy journal look and feel but don’t wanna pay so much for one then I would highly recommend typo. I got a really nice one there for about $15-$20 (au price) you can buy it here. Amazon also has some really great ones here, here and here.

Stationary

Now once again, you don’t need the most fanciest pens ever but I would recommend getting one that flows nicely along the page. Along with basic pens, other things you may consider could be gel pens, texters, stickers, ribbon, a ruler and even paint. This pen from eBay worked really nicely for me.

What do I put in it?

It’s completely up to you what you put in it. Personally, I would start with an index and calendar and then start mapping out each week. It can be hard to explain by typing so here is a great article/link about mapping out your weeks. In my bullet journal I like to track things such as songs to learn, how much water I drank, books I’ve read and so on. How could I forget the best thing about bullet journals!? Doodles. Seriously, little doodles and drawings in your bullet journal can really make it look so cute and happy. Check out my Pinterest board for doodles here.

Congratulations!

You now know everything there is to a bullet journal! Now get out there and start organising your life. Trust me, bullet journals are awesome and even better, it’s all your creativity put into a planner instead of a boring, plain old one. Have fun with your new bullet journal 🙂

3 Best Facemasks For Clearer Skin!

BEST facemasks for clearer skin! | goloveyrself.comFacemasks. Do they actually work? I’d like to assume so, I mean it gives me an excuse to rub food on my face. This year one thing I’ve wanted to do is try to eat and use more natural ingredients in my day to day life. So instead of relying on chemicals that do who knows what to your skin I’ll be using more natural stuff.

Avocado Mask

This avocado mask softens and purifies the skin with the help of honey and greek yoghurt. I must confess it did feel as if I was rubbing guacamole on my face but after this mask my skin felt (and looked) amazing!

You will need –

1/2 an avocado

1 tsp of plain greek yoghurt (any brand will do)

1 tsp of honey

Now, making facemasks is pretty easy. You can either blend them up (recommended) or mash them up together with a fork like I did.

Strawberry Mask

Mmmm…. Who doesn’t love strawberries? Strawberries and lemon can be used to whiten skin (or teeth) in the beauty world. This strawberry mask will use the power of vitamin C and nurture and revitalize your skin.

You will need –

1/4 cup of strawberries

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp plain yoghurt

1 tbsp honey

With this mask I would definitely recommend blending this one as the strawberry is pretty hard to mash up by itself.

Cucumber Mask

Ahhh, cucumbers are just so refreshing. You could even put a slice of cucumber on each eye for this mask haha. After using this mask I noticed my skin was less red and it felt so nice and cool. The cucumber along with the yoghurt are a great mix for your skin as they both have many vitamins to sink into your pores and cleanse them.

You will need –

1/2 a cucumber (grated)

1 tbsp of greek yoghurt

You can blend or mix this mask with a fork as the grated cucumber isn’t too chunky but if you prefer a smoother mask then go ahead and blend it up.

Now you have some great facemasks at hand why don’t you go ahead and treat yourself to a spa day at home? You deserve it. And just remember, your skin is perfect the way it is, no matter how many zits, blemishes, scars or wrinkles. You look just fine.
